2025 EVENT RECAP: MIRA's 3rd Annual Chairman's Dinner
Honoring Leadership, Legacy, and Community
On September 18th, guests in elegant cocktail attire gathered at the Orchard Lake Country Club in West Bloomfield for an unforgettable evening of celebration, connection, and recognition.
The event honored standout contributors across the industry:
- Retailer of the Year: Nino Salvaggio
- Supplier of the Year: Lipari Foods
- Legislators of the Year: Senator Sylvia Santana (D-MI-2) and Representative Joe Aragona (R-MI-60)
But the evening’s most heartfelt tribute was reserved for Chairman Bobby Hesano of D&B Grocers, who was recognized for his three years of dedicated service as Chair and 23 years of commitment to the MIRA Board. “He is a trailblazer,” said Bill Wild, MIRA President and CEO. “Bobby is the first supplier in our association’s 115-year history to serve as Chairperson—and he’s done it with class, integrity, and a leadership style that inspires. He leads by example.”
Though Hesano, ever humble, preferred to avoid the spotlight, Wild felt it essential to honor his legacy. He shared words penned by fellow board member Jim Garmo, who wrote: “Bobby demonstrated exceptional leadership, guiding our organization through challenges while ensuring we stayed true to our mission and values. Under his guidance, MIRA has achieved remarkable milestones and left a lasting impact on the independent retailers we serve.”
